Calling somebody you look up to a "GOAT" is pretty much one of the highest compliments you can give — assuming they understand what you're talking about, of course.
On Monday, Jennifer Lawrence appeared on The Late Show and spoke to Stephen Colbert about her new movie Don't Look Up, which she stars in alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Meryl Streep. Her nickname for the latter? The GOAT, meaning Greatest of All Time.
The problem? Streep clearly wasn't familiar with that particular term.
"We were doing a photoshoot and I said something like 'GOAT', and Meryl said, 'That's right, just tell the old goat where to go,'" Lawrence explains in the clip above. "And I was like, 'Meryl, you know that GOAT means greatest of all time, right?' And she was like, 'Oh! No!' And we were like, 'Well we haven't just been calling you goat!'"
Oops.
