'Metroid Dread' is finally out this October — here's how to pre-order

The Nintendo Switch is about to get some pretty fantastic games. From a new Animal Crossing: New Horizons expansion to a brand new 3D adventure in Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Nintendo fans have a lot to look forward to. Coming sooner than any of the new announcements, though, is Metroid Dread, a long-awaited game that was first reported on way back in 2005. And on Oct. 8, we'll finally get to play it.

Metroid Dread is the first new 2D Metroid game in 19 years. You'll suit back up as intergalactic bounty hunter Samus Aran as she travels to the mysterious planet of ZDR to rid the alien world of an imposing new foe. You'll fight off deadly robots, gain new abilities to add to Samus' repertoire, and use all that you've learned to expose new paths in secrets throughout the sprawling world.
