A lower-cost prosthetic is going against the grain with its inflatable, light-weight design

Engineers at MIT and Shanghai Jiao Tong University have developed a soft, lightweight, prosthetic hand that allows users to carry out a number of very complex tasks with relative ease.

In addition to its functionality, the hand is more affordable than most available prosthesis, costing around $500 in components.
